Muy bueno!

(+2)

you have to add multiplayer(co-op, or even 1vs1)

This game is amazing for what it is. However a small encyclopedia on each creature would be pretty cool. Including like, weaknesses, strengths, population numbers, why they're hunted, why they're hard to hunt. All that fancy stuff.

Other than that the game is wonderful, would honestly recommend playing, 10/10.

Impressive .

Needless to say everybody would pay for such a AAA game like urs.

(+2)

I absolutely love this game and its only a demo!

I absolutely love this game and its only a demo!

It's an amazing game I just beat the first monster, but while I was fighting the second monster I got stuck in a stone pillar when it lifted me in the air. It's still fun tho :D

(+1)

I couldn't believe the graphics for what engine its running on. I'm ready to fight those other bosses!
(+1)

Though I still haven't beaten the first monster, this is by far one of the best demos I've played in a long while. It's frightening, challenging, and a beautiful thing to look at. Well done dev! Can't wait for a full release.

(+1)

Well that was hard, but I did manage to catch them all! ;)

The game itself and the gameplay within is simply amazing. I had a few issues with being stuck in the final boos some times, but managed to defeat it none the less. The audio is really good too, although I decided to pick some music myself, which is where the option to turn of the music comes in really handy!

The only real criticism is the lack of a tutorial and story. At first, the monsters are incredibly hard, but as you read the tool tips, things become a lot easier. Now, story is not a necessity, but would add so much to the overall game.

Other than that, great work! Looking forward to the full release with great excitement!

Great game. I feel the adventure in this one. Hoping for the full version.

Here's my gameplay included in this video:

IGP has played this game!

This is awesome! What weapons do you guys think would be cool to see in future updates? Idk what it would do, but I think a ice harpoon would be sick. Or maybe a cannon or something on the boat? What do you guys think?

Keep making the game !!! Please, I'll even pay. But ... unfortunately, I only have $ 2.15 on my bank card.
Deleted 3 years ago

why?

meant to say turtle boss

either whale boss is bugged or im just bad i cant get past the final boss i can get to its 2nd stage but after i disable its weapons what do i do.

After you disable the weapons it will chase you and have a weak point in its mouth.

(1 edit) (+1)

The Game is so FU........... AMAZING, AGE

But, in the Demo are gives just the Whale or? And no Harpunes

(1 edit)

You might want to read the text that pops up at times, you press 2 for harpoons and 3 for repair tool.

can any of these games be played on a chromebook or chrome OS?

yes. download itch.io app on linux and enable linux in settings drag the file (it should be your last modified one) into the linux folder and open terminal and type in: chmod +x itch-setup and then type ./itch setup and it should open. login and you can download games and play. *disclaimer- app sometimes flickers and crashes with some games (random games) im pretty sure you can only play linux compatible games (idk). If you use first person or need to look around (ingame) goto about:flags in google chrome and enable pointer lock for linux applications :) have fun (its actually my first day with the app lol)

(+1)

thanks bro. it might take about a hundred years to figure out what half of what you said means but ill get it eventually lol

(1 edit)

hehe :) start with going to settings and enabling linux. wait for it to install. go the thing u drag up from the bottom with the apps and stuff. open terminal from linux folder and type in chmod +x itch-setup and then ./itch-setup to open it. then download some stuff and play. but u can only play linux compatible games with that little penguin icon. if you have discord you can dm me at Bep Cow#0598

(1 edit) (+1)

alright, that helps a lot. thanks bro. i appreciate it. im not the most tech savvy person lol

Ay, i am kinda techie kid, but I asked an even more evolved techie kid. Who like knows everything about coding and stuff like that. I am techie kid because I google stuff and remember it and become smart boi

This game is AMAZING I LOVED IT! SO much vibrant colors and very interactive. Also to add on to that the sea looked so good! This game is a must play and it's definately on my list of best games!

(1 edit)

pls halp i can't figure out how to open it... ;-;

i downloaded it but i can't figure out on how to open the game and actually be able to play it............

Edit: btw i'm on windows

Hey there! I just did this through windows so I should be able to help. So, you should see a file in your downloads called "What-Lives-Below-Demo-Windows". You'll wanna right click on that and you'll see an option that says "Extract All..." click that. It'll ask where you wanna put the new file, that's completely up to you. Once it's finished extracting go to the location you put it to (let's say you just had it extract to your downloads folder again for simplicity). Click on the new folder (it'll have the same name as the old one but will be a regular folder instead of a zipped one). Then go into the second subfolder and open the "What Lives Below Demo" application by double clicking. That should open the game. Hope this helps!

ok I'm probably a idiot but how do I kill the first one?

Hit the glowing spot with the harpoon ("2" key).

IGP brought me here. This game already had an incredibly epic feel and  I can't wait to follow the development.

I have NO clue how to aggro the 4th boss, I spent a while using the explo harpoons and I even got sorta inside it so i'm confused what to do

Try using explosive harpoons on the weak looking part of the arches :)

um... I might be stupid but how do I kill the bird. It just keeps flying around and if I hit it with a harpoon it doesn't do damage

Use the explosive harpoons on the islands around where the bird perches. They should fall on the bird :)

This will be AWESOME, if it could have multiplayer with bigger boats/ships.
My friends and I  have been searching for a game like this forever!   But we can't play with each other.
The game by its self, it looks awesome, the water looks brilliant. But in my opinion, it would be lots of fun to play with friends.

I really loved the atmosphere ... the sound of the waves, spray or water, and the rolling effect.  You really feel like you are out of your depth.

For me it might have actually been too realistic in terms of combat.  I don't think I was even able to hit the first boss.  If I did, I did not see any indication.

I would suggest starting with something a little easier, maybe taking out a few sharks with one shot each, to give the player some positive feedback and a feel for the weapons and movement before pitting them against a giant boss whale.  Just a suggestion.

I will keep going ... feel free to ignore ... If you've played Legend of Zelda: Windwaker, I really loved the fights with the giant squids.  They were much easier of course, but they put your boat into a whirlpool that spins around the squid.  This looks terrifying but actually makes it easier, because you no longer have to control the boat.  I'm not sure if you had a time limit in that case...

There was also a great boat/monster combat in Resident Evil 4, but I can't remember exactly what I liked about it.

Finally, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth has a fight against Dagon, where you are on a ship.  You have to grab hold of the railings when he shakes the boat, then you have a few seconds to get a shot at him with the on-board cannon.  That was probably my favorite  boat/monster fight ever.

Again, these are just ideas I am throwing at you.  I do really love the idea and how well you've made this!

This game scared 10 years off my life and I was only at the first boss.

I really loved this game, it was very hard and the atmosphere was amazing.

I am Dopey Dik reporting for duty, one of my favourite games this year, a must try and experience the fear...

came here from igp. this game is so magical. in the upcoming updates, is it possible for coop?

Game has a lot of potential. I know it's still early into development but it would be awesome if the creatures all had their own unique "death animation" for when you died to them.

I like the game but for some reason I lag a lot do you know how to fix it

might be your pc. What are your specs?

i was able to fix thanks anyways

This looks awesome!.. Any chance of VR support (Happy to test for you ) :D

Hey, steb! Played this game for a few hours. Amazing. I've been following you on twitter for a while now, and watching the development on this game was wonderful. You created such a  unique world and concept, well done. I can not wait for the final product of this game, I'll definitely be purchasing if or when you post on Steam.

One thing I really would like to see in the future is boat / dock upgrades perhaps?

I really want to see a new game + mode as well? (Far later on in development, whenever you see fit. Dunno.)

All in all, loved it so much. Will continue to replay the demo until the  next version is released. Great work!

Thank you for the support! It is much appreciated.

I did consider upgrades before, I even had an implementation for a shop where you could buy them, however it made balancing difficult and felt unnecessary.

I may consider another type of upgrades (e.g. pick an upgrade after every boss), I need to do some planning and then I'll see how I feel after that.
